What is WIN?

The WCMS Interpreter Network (WIN) provides professional medical interpreters to practices with non-English speaking patients. With a simple request, practices can schedule an interpreter to help both physicians and patients overcome language barriers and improve health care. WIN has quality interpreters for over 15 languages including:  Spanish, Russian, Korean, American Sign Language and more! WIN interpreters have completed training in interpreting, medical terminology and cultural competency.  WIN has been providing quality communication for quality care for WNC physicians and community since 2005.

What is Interpreting?

Although the terms language interpretation and translation are often used interchangeably, interpretation refers to the spoken or visual language, and translation (as in document translation) to the written language.

Our qualified interpreters do not interpret word-for-word, but meaning-for-meaning. This is why you might notice that non-English conversations can seem to take longer. Many English concepts that are communicated in one or two words can take several phrases to accurately describe in another language, and vice versa.

At no extra charge, WIN offers training for your practice on how to successfully work with a language interpreter.
