Direct Secure Messaging
What is it?
Direct secure messaging (Direct) is a standardized protocol for exchanging clinical messages and attachments. The latest version of EHR certification requires Direct messaging capability, and physicians can use Direct to meet the Meaningful Use stage 2 requirement that they exchange clinical summaries at transitions of care.
