Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), July 28th at 1:30pm

The NC Social Isolation Loneliness Elevated Suicide Risk (SILES) team is hosting a can’t-miss webinar! Dr. Laura Shannonhouse, Ph.D., associate professor with the Department of Counseling & Psychology Services at Georgia State University will present about the upcoming Applied Suicide Interventions Skills Training (ASIST).

ASIST is the world’s leading suicide intervention training program and has seen continuous improvements reflecting advances in counseling theory and adult learning. ASIST participants learn to recognize when someone may be at risk of suicide and respond in ways that help increase their immediate safety and link them to further help. ASIST has been shown to enhance a caregiver’s ability to help a person avoid suicide.

To learn more, please see the ASIST insert, article, and summary that landed ASIST in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration registry of evidence-based mental health programs.
