MAHEC Project ECHO: Acute Care of Inpatient with COVID-19 and Case Discussion for WNC Providers

Date: October 7, 2020 12:00 PM

This region-wide ECHO (Extension in Community Healthcare Outcomes) is designed to promote discussion and best practices among local providers for the screening, diagnosis, and management of inpatients with COVID-19 during this pandemic. The acute care of COVID-19 patients is changing frequently and it can hard to keep up with current recommendations. In addition, regional cases of COVID-19 continue to increase. This program will provide evidence-based recommendations to stabilize acutely ill patients in the region as well as knowledge regarding when to transfer to a higher level of care. The goal of this series is to facilitate virtual case discussion among hospital and emergency medicine providers with the current standard of care for patients presenting to the hospital with COVID-19 or suspected COVID-19.

Project ECHO® is a lifelong learning and guided practice model that revolutionizes medical education to provide best-practice specialty care and reduce health disparities. ECHO is led by an expert team that uses multi-point videoconferencing to conduct virtual learning sessions comprised of a short didactic followed by discussions and case presentations provided by participants.
