About the Facilitators:
Laura hope-Gill launched the Narrative Healthcare Program at Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2014 after attending training in Narrative Medicine at Columbia University Program in Narrative Medicine. Hope-Gill, the daughter of a doctor and nurse, holds an MFA in Poetry and co-ordinates the Graduate Writing Program at Lenoir-Rhyne.
Dr. Carol Scott-Conner teaches surgery as Professor Emeritus at University of Iowa School of Medicine while she pursues her MFA in Creative Writing at Lenoir-Rhyne University. She lectures and publishes in both clinical and creative contexts. She serves on the editorial board of The Examined Life, a literary journal based in the University of Iowa School of Medicine. Her focus includes Endocrine and Breast Oncology Surgeon Emeritus Professor of Surgery - Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery. She also acted as an advisor to NASA for the health care related issues related to long duration missions beyond Earth's orbit through the Institute of Medicine.
