Immigrant Rights and Resources
February 1, 2017
Right now there is a lot of focus at a national level on immigrants. We at WIN are not lawyers or experts on the rights of immigrants and we cannot provide legal advice, but we want to reiterate that the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 apply to everyone in the United States, whether they are citizens, tourist visa holders, green card holders, immigrants with refugee status, undocumented immigrants, or any other status. To quote the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), “The fundamental constitutional protections of due process and equal protection embodied in our Constitution and Bill of Rights apply to every person, regardless of immigration status.”
WIN is proud to have so many immigrants from all over the world on our team and we are proud to serve limited English proficient immigrants and the Deaf in WNC by providing high quality interpreter services in the medical setting. We'd like to thank our interpreters for everything they do for their language communities and the medical community.
