Presidential Executive Orders

Today President Biden made good on his promise to issue a series of Executive Orders (EOs).  Attached is the press release describing the EOs that will be issued today. A number of the EOs are of importance to the AMA. In the days and weeks ahead, we expect additional actions on a number of issues including, but not limited to, COVID-19, the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, and Title X.

Among the health care-related EOs being issued today are the following:

1.            100 day mask requirement in federal facilities and interstate travel

2.            Rejoining the WHO

3.            Whole of government response to COVID

4.            Extending the pause of student loans

5.            Rejoin the Paris Agreement on Climate Change

6.            Whole of government response to advance racial equity

7.            Rescinding the exclusion of undocumented aliens from the Census

8.            Preserve and fortify the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals

9.            Rescinding the immigration ban on Muslim countries

10.          Prohibiting workplace discrimination on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation

11.          Review and improve the regulatory process
