Of note, there have been updates regarding who should be tested or considered for testing for Zika (see below), based on data that suggest that sexual transmission is more common than previously reported, as well as evidence that travel limited to elevations higher than 2,000 m (6,562 ft) above sea level posed minimal (approximately 1%) likelihood for mosquito-borne Zika virus transmission, even within countries reporting active transmission.

HPAI viruses were first identified in birds in the US in December 2014 and have infected wild birds and poultry in multiple states since that time. No human infections with these viruses have been detected in the US, although similar avian influenza viruses have infected people in other countries.
