2022 Dr. Brian Ling Memorial Scholarships Announced

WCMS is pleased to announce the 2022 recipients of the Dr. Brian Ling Memorial Scholarship: Lillian Johnson and Ashley Wilhelm, both of Asheville Christian Academy.

“I am so thankful for the opportunity that the Dr. Brian Ling Memorial Scholarship has given me,” said Lillian.

Ashley, who is attending UNC Chapel Hill this fall said, “I am looking forward to caring for my future patients just as well as Dr. Ling did.”

Dr. Ling was a well-respected internist and nephrologist with Mountain Kidney and Hypertension Associates in Asheville, North Carolina. He was known for providing excellent, patient-centered care, and has been variously described as “a rare and wonderful human being” and “a brilliant clinician.” Dr. Ling died in March 2006 at the age of 50.

WCMS created this scholarship in Dr. Ling’s memory. There are two recipients annually. The scholarship is managed by the Community Foundation of WNC.
