BCHHS Public Health Provider Update: Tonight's webinar on COVID testing; how to request test supplies; and more

1. TONIGHT from 5:30-6:30pm -- webinar on COVID-19 in NC:  Testing Strategy, Guidance and Priority Populations

Tonight, the NC Medical Society is partnering with Medicaid, CCNC and the NC AHEC Program, to host a webinar entitled “COVID-19 in NC:  Testing Strategy, Guidance and Priority Populations.” This webinar will address new options for telephonic and telehealth delivery of care for changes in testing recommendations, an overview of the testing modalities, and a discussion on how NC DHHS is working with community partners to reach high priority populations. The webinar will feature NC DHHS Secretary Dr. Mandy Cohen, State Health Director and CMO for NCDHHS Dr. Betsey Tilson, CMO for Medicaid Dr. Shannon Dowler and Dr. Scott Shone, Director at the NC State Laboratory of Public Health.  You can register and access the webinar here

2. The state has set up a website where clinics in NC can order free COVID specimen collection supplies (swabs and media). For more information, see https://covid19.ncdhhs.gov/information/health-care/requesting-specimen-testing-supplies

You will need to know what types of swabs and transport media are accepted by the COVID-19 testing laboratory that will receive the specimens collected with these supplies.

3. Please see attached memo from NC DHHS requesting reports of clinician-suspected reinfection of individuals with COVID.
