FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WCMS partners with Blue Ridge Community Health Services

Asheville, NC Western Carolina Medical Society (WCMS) is pleased to announce it was awarded a grant from the Lily W. Smith Trust, which will be used in partnership with Blue Ridge Community Health Services (BRCHS).

The grant will provide behavioral health treatment to low-income, uninsured children at BRCHS locations.

“Blue Ridge Health is pleased to collaborate with Western Carolina Medical Society in providing Behavioral Health services to uninsured children in Western North Carolina. Without the support of this grant funding, children without financial means may not seek and enter into treatment for behavioral health needs such as depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder, suicidal ideation and ADHD,” says Dr. Linda Davidson, Medical Director, Behavioral Health for BRCHS. “Both counseling and Psychiatry (medication management) are available to support the needs of the child. Early intervention for children is directly linked to improved academic performance and healthy families. We appreciate the opportunity to be a partner in this initiative.”

The Lily W. Smith Trust is a private foundation based in Jacksonville, FL, with an invitation-only grant program.

The Western Carolina Medical Society is the physicians’ voice of Western North Carolina, advocating for the health of the medical profession, the health of the patient, and the health of the community.
