Western Carolina Medical Society Receives Grant from Dogwood Health Trust

Asheville, NC Dogwood Health Trust has awarded the Western Carolina Medical Society (WCMS) with a capacity-building grant, aimed at expanding organizational infrastructure and enhancing services supporting health access throughout Western North Carolina.

“Capacity funding is transformational for small nonprofits like ours,” said Karen Wallace-Meigs, Executive Director of WCMS. “With just ten staff members, we move medical mountains every day by helping our neighbors access care, supporting healthcare providers, and building a healthier region. This grant from Dogwood Health Trust allows us to continue saving lives and supporting the people who make care possible.”

The funding will enable WCMS to strengthen its operations in areas such as program evaluation, communications, data management, and staff development, ensuring long-term sustainability and measurable impact.
